WORKSHOP STATEMENT

In this workshop/presentation, I will discuss what it means to execute as a creative. We will go over topics such as: the art and science of creative execution, understanding your why, story telling, knowing your source, what is creation, exploring different mediums, using different tools, being resourceful and finding ways to execute through the chaos that creation can be.

BIO

Robert “ROB.” Kelley-Morgan has dedicated his life to contributing and elevating art and culture for creatives in Boston and beyond. Hailing from Roxbury, ROB. has managed industry heavy hitters as well as rising talent in New England. Rob’s career has garnered him over 20 gold and platinum RIAA and Billboard charting plaques as a talent manager and allowed him to work in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Europe, Africa amongst other regions. His dedication to his community and career led him to create PUTINWORK as well as its media platform subsidiary PUTINWORKTV that spotlights artists, entrepreneurs, the music business and content creation. ROB’s goal is to always elevate and inspire the next generation of leaders and artists while building businesses that contribute to and cultivate the communities he’s a part of!

PUTINWORK is a Boston based company that handles the management, production, administration, publishing, promotion and distribution of work centered in creativity, intellectual property and enlightenment. PUTINWORK is wholly owned by veteran talent manager Robert “ROB.”Kelley-Morgan.

Through interactive exercises and real-world examples, participants gain practical insights to navigate their financial journey with creativity and confidence.

“Meet Salma, a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for empowering small businesses and creatives on their financial journey. As the founder of Hustle B Tax, a virtual accounting firm established in 2020, Salma is dedicated to helping clients achieve financial confidence while tackling financial anxiety and illiteracy. In 2022, Salma founded The Cinegroove, a creative space initially located on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Now, merged with the vibrant venue Odessa in Downtown Boston, she currently co-runs Odessa-Groove, affectionately known as The O.G. Salma brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, guiding individuals and businesses towards financial success with creativity and passion.”

FOR ARTISTS

WORKSHOP STATEMENT

Who should an artist reach out to for press coverage? Should they send an email or a DM?
What type of information should be included when they reach out? What type of subject line
should they write? Figuring out how to get connected with reporters and arts writers can be a
difficult process, especially for emerging artists. This workshop will cover 1) how to reach out to press 2) who to reach out to and 3) when to reach out. In the workshop, we work through writing engaging emails, creating press releases and how to source and keep track of writers/ reporters. We will also workshop attendees’ emails/ press releases during the class.

BIO

Arielle Gray is a journalist, writer and artist currently based in Boston. She is a reporter at WBUR, Boston’s NPR station, where she covers Black and brown communities through the lens of art and culture. Her work examines the liminal spaces between her various identities- queer, Black and neurodivergent- to find places of possibility and creation. Her writing has appeared in NPR, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, the Boston Art Review and ZORA Magazine and her artwork has
been featured in the Boston Globe and Boston Art Review.

In 2022, Arielle conceived and executed the Future Archive Project at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a community audio and photography exhibition highlighting Black LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Boston area. In 2021, she co-curated Combahee’s Radical Call, a multi-modal exhibit exploring Black feminism in Boston at the Boston Center for the Arts. She is a 2020 Create Well Fund awardee and a 2021 A4A artist-in-residence at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Arts. She is currently a Luminary artist at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum where she explores the possibilities of audio in storytelling
